What's new for iPhone, Mac and more
Hands-on with Apple's new Liquid Glass operating systems.
After getting our first glimpses at the next versions of iOS, macOS and the rest of Apple’s operating systems at WWDC this week, several fearless Cult of Mac writers tossed caution to the wind and downloaded the betas.
Maybe it was the alluring look of Apple’s new Liquid Glass design that drew them like a siren’s song to the buggy betas. Or maybe it was just professional commitment that motivated them to take one for the team.
The (mostly) happy result: Insightful hands-on looks at iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
Me, I’ve got work to do, so I’m waiting for stable versions. How about you?

If you’re brave enough to test Apple’s betas, we’ve got how-tos that will guide you through the process. And if you do, you’ll need this one as well: How to file Apple bug reports.

Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language was the undisputed belle of the WWDC ball. Here’s Cult of Mac publisher Leander Kahney’s first impressions of what he calls “Apple’s biggest design refresh ever.” (Unsurprisingly, the internet has its own squinty take on Liquid Glass.)
Apple generated some buzz this week with its first haptic trailer, released to hype upcoming Brad Pitt racing flick F1: The Movie. Plus, we got trailers for the third season of sci-fi epic Foundation and wildfire thriller The Lost Bus.
Finally, we added several new items to the Cult of Mac Deals store, including gear like Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, a refurbished iPhone SE 2 for just $125 and a cool iPhone mount … plus software like Intuit QuickBooks for Mac and task-management app Blitzit.
Enjoy your weekend!
