Make iCloud even more secure with Advanced Data Protection
Apple offers two tiers of protection for your iCloud data: Standard and Advanced.
The default is Standard data protection, which encrypts most of your iCloud data, but only some of it is encrypted end-to-end, and Apple stores the encryption keys at its data centers to help if you ever need to recover it.
Advanced Data Protection, on the other hand, end-to-end encrypts the vast majority of your iCloud data, and the keys are stored only on your trusted devices. This offers the highest possible level of security for your data. No one, not even Apple, can access it. And your data remains secure, even if Apple’s data centers are breached.
Advanced Data Protection is not turned on by default.
Making your data super secure is a win, of course, but it comes with a small risk. You are completely SoL if you lose or forget your Apple ID password.
Luckily, Apple’s thought of this, and when turning on Advanced Data Protection, the system prompts you to first set up Account Recovery, which will help you unlock your account by other means.
The whole thing is pretty well-thought-out, and easy to implement, but for reasons, Apple’s buried the settings. Luckily we’re here to help. Here’s all you need to know about turning on Advanced Data Protection.

I can highly recommend this foldable CarPlay screen. I use it in my old Land Rover and it performs like a champ. The screen is bright and responsive, and it folds away in the glove box when not in use. There’s no easier way to add CarPlay to any vehicle.
Soundcore is an Anker sub-brand that’s building a reputation for budget-priced but great-sounding audio. It’s latest Liberty 4 Pro earbuds live up to that reputation. In our hands on review, we find the buds have some great features — plus a cool charging case — but cost considerably less than AirPods Pro.
Enjoy your weekend!
